How do I scale Instagram to build a thriving community and profitable business?

While commonly used as a means of procrastination or cure for boredom, Instagram is so much more than just a place for mindless scrolling - it has quickly become one of the biggest, most powerful marketing tools that can and SHOULD be used as part of your business strategy. But there are a few fundamentals to conquer before you can expect to scale your IG and start building your thriving online community: 

  • Look at the bigger picture. With a multiplicity of facets, it’s crucial to view each and every aspect of Instagram as a potential chance to share your brand and connect with your audience. From the aesthetic of your profile to your actual content in your reels, stories and posts - each element is its own unique opportunity to grab people’s attention and hopefully their support too. 

  • Start with your profile. Your first point of call for potential clients - make sure to optimise your IG profile in a way that best represents your brand and yourself. Authenticity is key and building a unique and distinguishable profile that people will immediately recognise as yours, will be the ultimate game changer in allowing you stand out from the rest of the competition. 

  • Approach every element as its own. With the Instagram landscape now including everything from reels, stories, posts and IG lives; it’s important to recognise the advantage of as well as how best to utilise each one in their own capacity. Take reels for example - often ending up on your “explore page,” getting pushed to people who don’t follow you, making them an incredibly powerful tool for building brand awareness. Stories on the other hand, are for people who are following your account, so make sure to leverage them to promote your brand and sell your offerings. Engaging with your page is a form of commitment in itself, meaning that those who do are far more likely to support your brand or purchase your services; so why not use your feed to nudge them in the right direction! 

So, how do I stand out amongst the noise on social media?

A crucial part of building a business and following in the online landscape, is being able to cut through all the noise and clutter and find a way to differentiate yourself from the rest of the crowd. While it can feel impossible at times with thousands of people doing the exact same thing; remember, your audience has a problem, and you are the solution. Knowing and sharing your unique value proposition in a way that’s real and authentic will always ring true with the right people. And keep it simple!
