Barbie and Ken go to Pilates: Tips from the “Barbie” Cast workouts

The intrigue surrounding the Barbie vs Oppenheimer battle is undeniably captivating, but delving into the cast's workout routines adds an extra layer of fascination. We’re here to uncover invaluable tips and tricks to elevate yours or your clients' workout schedules. From conventional methods to rollerblading, the cast's workouts have got you covered!

Sudor’s very own Monique Eastwood helped celebrity and Oppenheimer star, Emily Blunt, get into the best shape of her life. Here’s a sneak peak into what Monique told Women’s health “During a typical week, Emily does four sessions, comprising a mixture of HIIT and bodyweight moves. One of those sessions might include a resistance band for an added challenge. A different session might focus on ballet-style moves, which are more precise and controlled, targeting small muscle movements.” Why not merge the two into Ballet HIIT, a low impact workout that improves your cardiovascular fitness while burning calories!

On the other set, Barbie and Ken went to Pilates. London-based personal trainer, David Higgings, got the Barbies and Kens working out together. The Barbies did four days of Pilates and 2 days strength, using a circuit style workout looking something like this:

  • Push or press exercise (e.g. dumbbell bench press) — 15 reps

  • Back or pull exercise (e.g. lat pull-down or bent-over row) — 15 reps

  • Shoulder exercise (e.g. shoulder press or lateral raise) — 15 reps

  • Biceps exercise (e.g. curl) — 15 reps

  • Lower-body exercise (e.g. squat or lunge) — 15 reps

  • Triceps exercise (e.g. tricep push-down or skull crusher) — 15 reps

  • Ab exercise (e.g. plank) — 2 minutes

  • Repeat 4-5 times.

Now, the Kens did it a bit differently. Picture this; Ken on a reformer… but only twice a week, the rest strength training. A 9 minute core workout was at the top of the workout list. Here it is, 1 minute per movement and 30 second rest between:

  • Rollbacks

  • Leg lifts

  • Two step crunch

  • Crossbody crunch

  • Rope climb

  • Windscreen wiper

  • Static dead bug

Although interestingly enough, the Kens also did two hours of daily dance training as well as ping pong games to build team spirit and fitness. And to top it off, rollerblading. According to the University of Massachusetts, rollerblading has 50% less impact on your joints while increasing your heart rate to 160 bpm. A new way to do cardio workouts!
