How SWEAT 1000 is using Sudor to grow their business

150,000 online workouts completed. Covid-19 created a huge growth opportunity for SWEAT 1000

Leading fitness brand SWEAT 1000, with studios in Cape Town & Johannesburg, has gained thousands of clients this year despite COVID-19. In just six months their digital community has surpassed 150,000 online workouts.

While most other gyms around the world are battling to stay afloat, SWEAT 1000 has grown their business – turning a global pandemic into an opportunity for them and their community.

SWEAT 1000 – known for its calorie burning classes, is a dynamic high intensity workout split equally between treadmill and floor intervals. Famous for burning 1000-calories/class it would have been easy for Paul and Andrew Rothschild to throw in the towel and give up when forced to close their doors – it’s not like many people have a treadmill at home.

Determined to keep their 10-year old business alive and their community healthy & active during lockdown, Paul and Andrew quickly launched SWEAT 1000 Live – which has grown into a sustainable extension of the SWEAT 1000 brand.

During the tough Covid period SWEAT 1000 has kept their community together and grown a new online client base. SWEAT 1000 Live charges a monthly subscription fee of R499.99 for access to both live and on-demand HIIT, Yoga, Pilates and Spinning classes which can be followed at home.

SWEAT 1000 Live is now celebrating its 6-month anniversary. In 6 months over 150,000 digital workouts have been completed all around the world- from Cape Town to Copenhagen, LA to Singapore and the community has grown from a few hundred to several thousands.. It’s fair to say Paul, Andrew and the SWEAT 1000 Team have been able to capture the energy of their in-Studio classes and transfer it online.

SWEAT 1000 is garnering rave reviews around the world which has been great for business.

“Going digital has enabled us to reach a significantly larger more-global audience than ever before. Previously we were limited by studio capacity – and a customer’s proximity to our studio. By removing the constraint of time & space we have been able to focus on additional marketing channels that have never before been open to us – this has played a significant role in our growth.

Early into our digital journey we partnered with Sudor who played a key role in helping us build & scale our digital business. They’ve taken care of the technology, enabling us to focus on what we do best delivering life changing workouts.”

Tips on Owning the Digital Fitness Space in 2021

2020 was the year that pushed everything and every one to their limits – particularly in the fitness world. With gyms and niche-fitness studios being forced to close doors, we saw the fitness industry transform before our very eyes in order to see the other side of global lockdowns. Gym as we know it, is dead – the rise of virtual gyms has allowed for weekend warriors and couch potatoes alike to maintain their fitness goals, and some even exceeding them, all from the comfort of their homes. Whether you’re a trainer or looking to get your own personal ‘gym’ started, we’re here to help you outline the fundamentals of growing your post-lockdown business. Here are 3 ways to boost your marketing strategies for 2021:

  • Lay the groundwork and set your goals
  • Be active, engaging and connected on social media
  • Continuously improve and promote your online business

Lay the foundation and set those goals:

Google is your friend – you have a world of information at your fingertips and it’s time to put it to use! There are so many successful marketing ideas out there; but it’s important that you stick to one and see it through to maintain traction and consistency. The majority of this information needs to be discovered during the planning stage of your business plan and introducing this data throughout will help curate effective and efficient marketing.

Be sure to set goals that are clear and easy to measure so that you can determine their progress. This will help you make sure that you are targeting your business to the right people!

Focus on being active, engaging and relatable on Social Media

Social media is a key marketing tool in 2021 – with lockdowns all over the world, the social media boom has created the perfect platform for your growing business, and it’s free most of the time! Studies show that Facebook has an incredibly high success rate when it comes to social media marketing.

When choosing which platform to use for your marketing, it’s really important that you consider the age group of your target market, and the type of content that you plan on posting. Be sure to research relevant hashtags, the most popular content imagery and creating captions that captivate your  audience.

Continuously improve and promote your online business

While 2020 has pushed the fitness world to new limits, it’s also transformed the customer expectations – flexibility has proven to be one key element to any business during these times. To engage with your audience, be sure to use your social media to gain data that will benefit your business. Use your social media to collect data and suggestions from your client base, and use it to research what your competitors are offering.

2021 is another great opportunity for transformation, so let’s use it to gear up to the best fitness year we’ve ever seen.

The Future of Digital Fitness

We know that starting your Digital Business Journey can be overwhelming – but we’ve done the research and know what the future of fitness looks like. There are so many new facets to consider when it comes to your business – and we believe that technology is crucial when it comes to the future of fitness.

The fitness market will always be set to continuously grow, but we need to consider how the COVID-19 crisis has impacted, and will continue to impact, the fitness industry in the new normal. With fluctuating spikes in infection, gyms and studios need to navigate the new normal to meet consumer demand and expectations. And in turn, consumers have come to expect a certain offering – one that includes fitness on a digital platform and in studio. As digital fitness continues to skyrocket, it’s clear the pandemic has changed the fitness market forever.

Globally, it’s no surprise that consumers are engaging more and more with fitness and wellness brands to live a healthier life. While the need for fitness is obvious, businesses have to adapt to ensure the delivery of their offerings in a remote and socially-distant way. This has paved the way for a new era of digital fitness. Science doesn’t lie – so let’s break down the trends that will shape the fitness market as we know it, and how this will impact the fitness industry:

1. Awareness in Health and Fitness

It comes as no surprise that one of the main driving factors behind the fitness industry is the growing awareness of health and fitness. During lockdown, the news channels and mass media pushed almost daily reminders for regular exercise. With a global pandemic on their hands, governments encouraged nations to move more in a bid to improve public health and lessen the effects of the pandemic. Consciously or not, this has had a lasting effect on consumer’s minds to stay fit and healthy.

2. COVID-19 Has Accelerated Shift to Digital Fitness

Health and fitness app downloads increased by 47% in the second quarter of 2020. Let’s not forget that virtual workouts, streaming, and on-demand fitness existed before the COVID-19 crisis, but what’s changed is that in-studio businesses have had to change lanes to digital fitness to stay afloat. An amazing example of this is SWEAT 1000 – who partnered with Sudor at the start of the pandemic and have since had their most successful financial year yet.

3. Tech-centric Solutions

In these times, technology will continue to be a massive influencer in the market – but most notably in the fitness market. Brands are leveraging technology to provide pivotal fitness experiences. With the ability to enhance workouts’ efficiency, gyms can offer an unparalleled personalisation level to shape member’s fitness experience.
